FAQs

We ship internationally!

We ship internationally and to most countries worldwide (with the exception of a few countries). Simply enter your country at checkout to check whether we can send to your country.

We ship the course material from the UK and there may be a small charge for tax and custom fees for international shipments outside the EU depending on your country. Please note that for customs purpose, we only declare the value of the equipment and kit, and not of the entire course price, so you will not have to pay a high custom fee.

Where is my kit and equipment?

We send all the materials necessary for this course shortly after you place your order. We ship your package with priority shipping and you’ll receive the tracking number when your kit is on its way. Please note the transit time may take a few days and allow a minimum of one week to receive your ingredients and material. For international shipping, we advise to leave up to 2 weeks to arrive at your home (depending on the country).

Do I have to receive the ingredients and material to do the course?

Yes! The material are necessary to follow the course and practise at home. The Creation Course comes with 4 boxes of ingredients and perfumery equipment which includes 500ml of perfume ingredients. The set contains a high enough quantity for you to work on your formulae several times.

We do not provide the course without the kit and ingredients but if you are not eligible for shipping AND you are an experienced perfume maker and can prove you already have a full library of trade-grade perfumery ingredients at home (both natural and synthetic), please get in touch.

Can I start without the ingredients?

This course will come to life with the ingredients and the equipment! You need to smell and practise at home with us as you watch the videos in order to learn. We do not recommend you start the course before receiving your ingredient boxes and equipment. Please note it can take between 1 and 2 weeks to receive your material at home.

Can I start the course at any time?

Yes. The course is pre-recorded and you can start when you like once you have received your kit.

How long is the course?

A minimum of 12 weeks but this mainly means there are 12 modules released weekly, you will probably need longer to complete the entire course. We release a new module each week so it leaves you the time needed to watch the lessons, train your nose and complete the exercises. We recommend to spend an average of an hour a day to learn and practise while taking the course, but this will be up to you whether you can dedicate less or more time to it.

It may take you longer to complete the course, but rest assured, you can go through it at your own pace! You’ll have access to streaming the videos for two years from joining so it’ll leave you plenty of time to complete it.

Please note we do not release all the lessons in the course in one go. You’ll need to wait that the content is released each week in order to progress to the next module (you’ll receive a notification email when the next module is released and available to start). This ensures that you have enough time to practise and learn between each new modules so that you are not overwhelmed with information.

How long the course is available for?

The streaming access to the video course is available for two year from the date of purchase.

However, if you need more time to complete the 12-week programme, you will be able to extend your access at a small yearly fee at the end of these two years.

If you choose not to, you will be able to keep the downloadable pdfs and presentations but you will not be able to download the videos which are streaming only.

You can also stay in the students Facebook discussion group as long as you’d like even after you no longer have access to the videos.

Will I have access to an instructor?

No. The course is designed to be self-explanatory and is very detailed so that you should not need access to an instructor as you go through it.

However we post occasional Q&As videos with our instructors and live sessions on our students discussion group so this will give you opportunities to ask any questions you’d like that are relevant to the course content.

The student discussion group will also give you the opportunity to share your progress and success, challenges and questions with the rest of the community.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes, if you wish to! For those who want to take the test at completion of each chapter, we offer a certificate with the CPD programme (Continuous Programme Development). At the end of each chapter of the programme (Foundation, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3), you can take a test (optional) and if you pass, you’ll receive your downloadable certificate.

Each part of the course (Foundation, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3) has its own dedicated test and individual corresponding certificate.

Do I become a perfumer once completing the course?

(Un)fortunately not!

Becoming a perfumer comes with a long training in a school or within a perfume house (at least a year), but mostly from practising! It’ll take you months or even years to hone and master the practise you have learnt during this course. A perfumer only becomes a perfumer when he/she has a few years of industry experience behind him/her. But do not despair. If becoming a perfumer is your goal in life, then there is no reasons why you cannot put the hours and dedication behind your passion and become a nose!

This course will be an excellent starting point for your journey into perfumery, whether it’s for a hobby or for professional purpose. But we cannot do the hard work for you…

Can I start my own perfume business after the course?

It is important to note that this course is designed to study perfumery through ingredients and formulation to learn and enjoy perfumery as a craft and creative practise and is not intended to help create a business (see full programme above for details on what’s covered in each lesson).

While this course will certainly give you a good starting point and a solid foundation, it will be your personal decision if you feel you have acquired enough knowledge to start a business venture at the end of this course. However, we do not advise you do so without the involvement of competent industry professionals in your country of launch.

We also recommend you finish the programme, taking Chapter 2 and 3 to make sure you’ve acquired the necessary knowledge.

We do not touch (or, if so, only lightly) on business aspects such as:

  • manufacturing and ingredient supply at a large scale,
  • regulatory at a manufacturing level: necessary to launch a compliant product commercially (this needs the involvement of a competent perfume manufacturer and laboratory in your country of launch),
  • or other aspects of a perfume business such as legal requirements for commercial products, marketing, retail, packaging etc…

Please note we DO NOT provide business advice, advise on supply chain or anything regarding how to launch a product commercially or how to produce your formulae at a commercial or large scale. We recommend you take advise and work with a local manufacturer if you wish to produce your formulae at a large scale or for commercial purpose.

Our courses are for domestic and private use only. If you use the products or techniques learnt for any commercial or business we will have no liability to you for any direct or indirect loss.

How do I get more material while taking the course if I need to?

We make sure to provide enough material to practise your course at home, but if you need more supply, you’ll have access to our Student Shop to replenish the ingredients and material you ran out.

Can I get a refund?

We hope you’ll love the course so much that you will not want a refund! But if you do, unfortunately we regret to let you know our online courses are non-refundable!
