How to make your bespoke perfume

At EPC we believe everyone can be the designer of their own perfume. Personalising a fragrance is not reserved for trained noses, it is well within reach at home or with us. Here are four routes to a scent that is truly yours, from the quickest to the most hands-on.

1. The basics: layering
Layering one scent over another is the quickest way to a personal fragrance, and a long tradition in Middle Eastern perfumery. The trick is to keep it simple: very intricate fragrances are hard to layer well, so reach for minimalist scents with short, uncomplicated formulae, or two that share a note. Our favourite approach is to pair opposite ends of the wheel, a bright citrus over a warm wood. 2. For ingredient lovers: amp your own scent
Take a fragrance you already love and push a note you adore. If rose is your thing, add a little rose oil from an Ingredient Box Set to bolster it, layered on the skin or mixed in an atomiser. A small, precise way to make a scent distinctly yours.
